Simulation Study of Dynamic Bus Lane Concept

Not many publications are available on using microsimulation models to analyze the feasibility of implementing dynamic bus lane (DBL) concept. The paper presents methodology and calibration process used for DBL modeling. For selected four sites in Rzeszów (Poland), three options were analyzed: no lane, standard exclusive (XBL), lane. analyses carried out PTV Vissim software with an additional logic script control activation. Simulation model parameters calibrated a genetic algorithm. final assessment individual was based weighted average travel time all transport modes. results show that could bring same benefits public cause only slight increase times private compared XBL. XBL solution, depending site, led increasing by 12% 25%, while increased 1% 12%. Weighted per person is proposed as overall indicator efficiency. Preliminary volume, occupancy, routing, traffic conditions will affect efficiency new solution.
